The ECCO 200402 is a 4 inch diameter by 36 inch long section of double wall Type B vent pipe.

A 36 inch section is a common working length, long enough to cover a substantial part of a run while remaining manageable in an attic or a confined chase where a 60 inch section cannot be manoeuvred into position. In practice a vent run is assembled from a mix of lengths to reach the required height, and stocking a range of sizes is what allows a run to be built without cutting.

Cutting B vent is generally to be avoided. The twist lock joint at each end is part of the listed assembly, and a cut section loses the engagement feature at the cut end. Where a run does not resolve to standard lengths, an adjustable section is the correct solution rather than field modification.

Type B vent sections install male end down, female end up, so that condensate formed in the vent drains back toward the appliance rather than escaping at a joint. Each joint is engaged and turned to lock.

The double wall construction with its insulating air space is what allows the reduced clearance to combustibles specified in the listing, commonly one inch, and that clearance must be maintained continuously through framing, insulation, and penetrations.
