ECCO B-Vent Pipe 4AFS 4 Adjustable Flash 8/12

The ECCO 200428 is a 4 inch adjustable roof flashing for Type B vent, covering steeper roof pitches in the region of 8/12.

Steep roof penetrations present problems that low slope penetrations do not. The flashing base must accommodate a much greater angle between the roof plane and the vertical pipe, water running down the roof arrives at the penetration with more velocity, and the working position for the installer is considerably less secure. A flashing rated for the steeper range is not interchangeable with a low slope unit; forcing a flashing beyond its designed pitch range distorts the base and produces a penetration that will not seal.

Correct integration with the roofing is the determining factor for weathertightness. The upper part of the base goes beneath the roofing material and the lower part over it, so that water flows across the flashing rather than beneath it. No amount of sealant compensates for a flashing installed the wrong way round, and sealant relied on as the primary seal will fail with thermal cycling.

A storm collar is fitted around the pipe above the flashing, and the run terminates in a listed vent cap at the height required by the code above the roof surface and any nearby structure.

Applications include residential and light commercial Type B vent roof penetrations on steeper pitched roofs. Confirm the actual roof pitch before selecting the flashing.
