The ECCO 200358 is a double wall Type B vent increaser transitioning from 3 inch to 4 inch diameter, used to enlarge a B vent system where required by the appliance or the vent design.

Type B vent is a double wall metal chimney system for gas fired appliances producing draft hood diluted flue gases. Its construction, typically an aluminium inner liner with a galvanised steel outer wall and an insulating air space between, keeps the outer surface cool enough to permit a reduced clearance to combustible materials, and keeps the inner liner hot enough to limit condensation of flue gas moisture.

An increaser is fitted where the vent must transition to a larger diameter. This occurs when a common vent serves more than one appliance and the combined capacity requires a larger size, when the vent height and configuration demand a larger diameter to develop adequate draft, or when connecting to an existing larger vent.

Vent sizing is not a matter of preference. It is determined by the vent tables in the fuel gas code, using appliance input, vent height, lateral length, and whether the vent serves one or more appliances. An oversized vent runs cool and condenses, corroding the liner; an undersized vent cannot carry the flue products and will spill at the draft hood.

Applications include residential and light commercial gas furnace, boiler, and water heater venting.
