The ECCO 200401 is a 4 inch diameter by 60 inch long section of double wall Type B vent pipe, the longest standard straight length in the 4 inch range.

Using the longest available section where the run permits is a deliberate practice rather than a convenience. Every joint in a vent system is a potential leakage point and a place where alignment can drift, and reducing the number of joints in a vertical run improves both the integrity of the system and the speed of installation. A 60 inch section covers a typical single storey rise with one piece where three shorter sections would otherwise be required.

Type B vent joins by a twist lock arrangement in which the sections engage and are turned to lock, producing a mechanically secure joint without fasteners or sealant on the vent itself. Sections must be installed with the male end down and the female end up, so that any condensate that forms runs back into the appliance rather than out at a joint.

The double wall construction, with an inner liner separated from the outer wall by an insulating air space, is what permits the reduced clearance to combustibles specified for listed B vent, commonly one inch. That clearance must be maintained through framing, insulation, and any penetration.

Applications include residential and light commercial venting of gas furnaces, boilers, and water heaters fitted with draft hoods.
