The ECCO 200472 is a 4 inch draft hood connector for Type B vent, providing the transition from an appliance draft hood outlet to the vent system.

The draft hood is the point where a naturally vented gas appliance's combustion products meet the vent. It is deliberately open to the equipment room, allowing dilution air to enter the vent and isolating the burner from downdraft and vent pressure fluctuations. That opening is also the diagnostic point for the entire vent system: if the vent cannot carry the flue products, they spill out here, and a match or smoke test at the draft hood relief opening is the standard check for adequate draft.

The connector attaches to the draft hood outlet and transitions to the vent system above. Getting this joint right matters, because a poorly fitted connector can restrict the outlet, misalign the run, or leave a gap that alters the intended dilution.

The connector must be secured to the draft hood in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and the applicable code, and the run should rise continuously from this point toward the termination.

After any vent work, test for spillage at the draft hood with all other exhaust appliances in the building operating and interior doors in their normal position, since building depressurisation is a common cause of spillage that a test under favourable conditions will miss.
