ECCO 4MSA 4B-VENT Male Sleeve 200475

The ECCO 200475 is a 4 inch male sleeve adapter for Type B vent, providing a male connection where the vent configuration requires one.

Type B vent sections have a male end and a female end and are directional by design. Installed correctly, with the male end downward, any condensate forming inside the vent runs back down the inner liner toward the appliance and cannot escape at a joint. Flue gas condensate is acidic, and a joint that weeps will corrode the vent exterior, the surrounding structure, and anything beneath it.

That directional requirement occasionally conflicts with the geometry of a particular installation, most often when connecting to existing work, joining a component with a fixed orientation, or replacing a section in a run that cannot be lifted and re-engaged from above. A male sleeve adapter supplies a male connection where the run would otherwise present a female end, allowing the joint to be made correctly without inverting a section.

Retrofit and repair work is where these adapters earn their place, since a run that was straightforward to assemble originally is rarely straightforward to modify in the middle.

Use listed components for every part of a vent system. Sheet metal fittings, tape, and improvised transitions fall outside the listing and undermine the clearance to combustibles the assembly relies on.
