DeWalt DEWDWE4887N Die Grinder 120V 1-1/2 in. Dia

The DeWalt DEWDWE4887N is a die grinder rated at 120V with a 1-1/2 inch capacity.

The N suffix in DeWalt's grinder range denotes the non-Lock-On switch configuration, and on a die grinder that carries the same logic it does on an angle grinder: the switch functions as a dead man's control, so the tool runs only while it is held and stops the instant it is released or dropped. Sites operating under a lock-off policy will specify this variant; the DWE4887 is otherwise the same tool.

Die grinders work on the tool's own axis rather than at right angles to it, spinning a burr, stone, or point straight ahead. That is what lets them reach into a bore, a die cavity, a corner, or the root of a weld — geometry no disc can enter. They remove material in small, controlled amounts, which is the requirement in precision work where an angle grinder would be catastrophically coarse.

The 120V corded supply gives unlimited runtime and holds speed under load, which pneumatic tools lose as the compressor cycles and cordless tools lose as the battery drains.

Applications include tool and die work, casting cleanup and porting, weld root dressing, deburring, chamfering, mould maintenance, and precision fabrication.

Users include toolmakers, machinists, welders, and fabrication shops.

Confirm any burr or accessory is rated for the grinder's speed before fitting, and wear eye protection.
