DeWalt DEWDWE4887 Die Grinder 120V 1-1/2 in. Dia

The DeWalt DEWDWE4887 is a die grinder rated at 120V with a 1-1/2 inch capacity.

A die grinder is a precision removal tool rather than a small angle grinder, and the difference is the axis. An angle grinder presents a disc at right angles to the tool for working across a surface; a die grinder spins a small burr, stone, or point straight ahead on the tool's axis. That geometry lets it reach inside a bore, into a corner, along a weld root, or into a die cavity — places a disc physically cannot enter.

The work it does is correspondingly fine. Die grinders port and shape castings, dress dies and moulds, deburr machined edges, clean weld roots, chamfer holes, and remove material in small controlled quantities where an angle grinder would take out far too much far too fast.

The 120V corded specification is the reason to choose this over a cordless or pneumatic tool: sustained, unlimited runtime with consistent speed under load. Pneumatic die grinders are lighter but require compressed air and lose speed as the compressor cycles.

Applications include tool and die work, casting cleanup and porting, weld root dressing, deburring, mould maintenance, and precision fabrication.

Users include toolmakers, die makers, machinists, welders, and fabrication shops.

Verify that any burr, stone, or accessory is rated for the grinder's speed before fitting, and always wear eye protection — die grinders throw fragments directly forward.
