CLC Subcontractr Glove 130XL

The CLC 130XL is an extra large subcontractor work glove for general trade use.

Glove selection is a compromise between protection and dexterity, and the right point on that scale depends on the task rather than being a fixed preference.

A heavy glove protects well and makes fine work impossible. A thin glove allows small fasteners to be handled and electrical connections to be made but offers limited protection against sheet metal edges.

The consequence of getting it wrong is predictable. A technician issued only heavy gloves removes them for the detailed work and does the rest of the job bare handed, which is when the laceration occurs.

Carrying two types and switching between them is the approach that actually results in gloves being worn. A dexterous glove suits assembly, electrical work, and general handling. A heavier glove suits sheet metal handling, material movement, and demolition.

Fit matters more than it appears. A loose glove reduces grip and can catch, and a tight glove causes fatigue and is discarded within an hour. Sizing should be checked rather than assumed.

Gloves must never be worn around rotating machinery, where a glove drawn into a moving part takes the hand with it.
