CLC Glove Heavy Utility Large 145L

The CLC 145L is a large heavy utility work glove for demanding trade applications.

Cut resistance is a measurable property with published rating scales, and understanding them helps match a glove to the hazard.

Standards assign a level based on the force required to cut through the material under controlled conditions, with higher levels indicating greater resistance. The scales are published under recognised standards, and gloves rated to them carry a marking.

The hazard in HVAC work that justifies attention to cut rating is sheet metal. A duct edge, a cut panel, or a piece of trimmed metal is capable of a deep laceration, and it does not take force or carelessness, simply a hand sliding along an edge while positioning something.

Sheet metal fabrication and installation, handling cut duct sections, and demolition work all warrant a cut resistant glove rather than a general purpose one.

The trade off is again dexterity, and heavily cut resistant gloves are noticeably bulkier.

No glove is cut proof. A rating describes resistance under test conditions, and a sufficiently sharp edge under sufficient force will cut through any of them. Gloves reduce the severity of an injury rather than eliminating the possibility.

Confirm the cut rating suits the hazard, that the fit permits the work, and inspect gloves for cuts and wear before use.
