The Yellow Jacket 21672 is a 6 foot red PLUS II charging hose for high side connections.

Hose storage affects service life more than most technicians allow for.

Hoses left coiled tightly, particularly in cold conditions, develop set and eventually crack at the bends. Hoses stored in direct sunlight degrade from ultraviolet exposure. Hoses left connected to a manifold and thrown loose in a van are subject to abrasion, crushing, and the repeated flexing at the fittings that causes most hose failures.

Storing hoses coiled loosely, protected from sunlight, with the ends capped to keep contamination and moisture out, addresses all of these.

Capping the ends matters for a further reason: an uncapped hose left open collects moisture and debris, and that moisture is then introduced into the next system the hose is connected to. On a system being evacuated to remove moisture, introducing more through the hoses is self defeating.

Hoses should also be replaced on a reasonable interval rather than used until they fail, since a failure under pressure is hazardous and the cost of a hose is trivial by comparison.
