Yellow Jacket Charging Hose 5 1/4" 15060

The Yellow Jacket 15060 is a 5 foot charging hose with 1/4 inch fittings.

Quarter inch is the standard service connection size for most residential and light commercial air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, matching the Schrader ports fitted to service valves and access fittings.

Hose length is a working comfort decision with a technical consequence. A longer hose reaches further, which matters on rooftop equipment, split systems where the manifold must sit some distance from the connection, and any situation where the technician cannot stand beside the ports.

The consequence is internal volume. Every hose holds refrigerant, and that refrigerant is either lost when the hose is disconnected or must be recovered. A longer hose holds more, so the loss per connection is greater. Across a working year the accumulated loss is not trivial, and refrigerant release is regulated.

Low loss fittings, which seal the hose end when disconnected, address this and are worth specifying.

Hoses should be selected long enough for the work but no longer, and low loss ends fitted where the hose is connected and disconnected frequently.

Applications include residential and light commercial air conditioning and refrigeration service.
