Description
The Yellow Jacket 21636 is a 3 foot red PLUS II charging hose for high side service.
Red identifies the high side connection, made to the liquid line or discharge service valve, where the hose is exposed to condensing pressure.
The high side sees the highest pressures in the system, and hose ratings matter correspondingly. Working pressure and burst pressure must exceed the pressures the system can reach, with margin, and this becomes more significant with higher pressure refrigerants where normal operating pressure alone is substantial.
High side connections also demand care in handling. Liquid refrigerant at pressure released against skin causes immediate freeze burns, and eye protection and gloves are appropriate whenever high side connections are made or broken.
The three foot length minimises internal volume, which on the high side means less liquid refrigerant trapped in the hose when it is disconnected.
Hoses should never be left connected to an operating system unnecessarily, and should be inspected for cracking near the fittings, where flexing under pressure concentrates stress.
