Yellow Jacket PLUS2 R410A 5 3-Pack Hoses 29985

The Yellow Jacket 29985 is a three pack of 5 foot PLUS II hoses rated for R-410A service.

R-410A operates at pressures substantially above those of the refrigerants that preceded it, and that difference is why hoses are specified for it explicitly.

Normal operating pressures on an R-410A system approach and exceed those that would indicate a serious fault on an older system, and the peak pressures the equipment can reach are correspondingly higher. Hoses rated for earlier refrigerants may be operating close to their working pressure limits in normal R-410A service, which leaves no margin for the abnormal conditions that occur during diagnosis and charging.

Hoses rated for R-410A carry higher working and burst pressure ratings to provide that margin.

The gauges on the manifold must be similarly rated, with scales extending high enough to read R-410A pressures usefully. A gauge whose scale ends below the system's normal operating pressure is of no diagnostic value.

Using correctly rated equipment is a safety matter rather than a preference, since a hose failure at these pressures releases refrigerant rapidly.
