Yellow Jacket Manifold & Hoses 2V 42004

The Yellow Jacket 42004 is a two valve manifold with hoses for refrigeration and air conditioning service.

Manifold gauge scales are worth examining when selecting a set, because a gauge is only useful over the range it actually reads.

The low side gauge is normally a compound gauge, reading both pressure above atmospheric and vacuum below it. The vacuum scale is coarse and is adequate only for confirming that a vacuum is being drawn, not for measuring how deep it is. Measuring evacuation properly requires a micron gauge, which reads on an entirely different scale.

The high side gauge must have a scale extending above the maximum pressure the system will reach. A gauge whose scale ends at a pressure the system exceeds in normal operation is useless for that system.

Both gauges normally carry temperature scales for common refrigerants, allowing pressure to be converted directly to saturation temperature. These are convenient but limited to the refrigerants printed, and a separate pressure-temperature chart or application covers the rest.

The refrigerants marked on the gauge indicate what the set was intended for.
