Yellow Jacket Manifold & Hoses 2V 41215

The Yellow Jacket 41215 is a two valve manifold with hoses for refrigeration and air conditioning service.

A two valve manifold is the traditional configuration: two gauges, low and high, and two valves controlling the connection between each side and the centre port.

Its operation is straightforward. With both valves closed, the gauges read system pressures without any flow between them. Opening a valve connects that side of the system to the centre port, which is where refrigerant is added, recovery equipment is connected, or a vacuum pump is attached.

The limitation appears during evacuation. With a two valve manifold, the path from the system to the vacuum pump runs through the manifold body and its valves, both of which restrict flow. At the very low pressures involved in evacuation, that restriction significantly extends the time required to reach a deep vacuum.

For charging and diagnosis, where refrigerant is at pressure, the restriction is immaterial, and a two valve manifold is entirely adequate.

Technicians who evacuate frequently generally supplement it with a four valve manifold or a dedicated evacuation setup.
