Tecumseh AE1022E-212-J7 Hermetic Compressor 1/3 HP R-134A

The Tecumseh AE1022E-212-J7 is a hermetic reciprocating compressor rated approximately 1/3 horsepower for R-134a refrigeration systems, supplied for commercial refrigeration condensing units and self-contained equipment.

A hermetic compressor encloses the motor and the compression mechanism together within a welded steel shell, with the refrigerant circulating over the motor windings to cool them. The construction is sealed and not field serviceable, which is why the whole compressor is replaced rather than repaired.

The AE series is one of Tecumseh's long-established reciprocating ranges for light commercial refrigeration, appearing in reach-in cabinets, display cases, bottle coolers, and small condensing units.

Refrigerant designation is a fitment specification, not a preference. A compressor is designed around a particular refrigerant and its associated lubricant, and R-134a systems use a polyol ester oil that is not interchangeable with the mineral oil used in older refrigerants. Fitting a compressor intended for a different refrigerant, or introducing an incompatible oil, causes lubrication failure.

Confirm the refrigerant, application temperature range, voltage, capacity, and electrical accessories before ordering, and evacuate and charge the system to specification on completion.
