The Copeland CR35K6E-TFD-875 is a three phase hermetic reciprocating air conditioning compressor supplied with polyol ester lubricant.

The TFD motor code indicates three phase operation on a nominal 460 volt supply at 60 Hz, the standard arrangement in commercial buildings where the higher voltage reduces conductor sizing and current for a given load.

Three phase operation removes the starting component requirement entirely. A three phase motor produces starting torque inherently from the rotating field the supply creates, so there is no start capacitor, no potential relay, and no hard start kit to fail. This is one reason three phase compressors are generally regarded as the more robust arrangement.

A point worth noting concerns phase rotation. Scroll compressors are rotation sensitive, and a scroll connected with reversed phase rotation runs backwards, fails to pump, and is damaged if left running. Reciprocating compressors are not sensitive in the same way, since piston motion is produced through a crankshaft and the compressor pumps regardless of which direction the motor turns. This difference matters when a technician accustomed to scroll equipment is working on reciprocating machinery, and equally when the reverse is true.

Confirm supply voltage at the equipment rather than assuming it from the building service. Verify capacity, voltage, phase, refrigerant, lubricant, and connection sizes before ordering.
