Mueller Gas Connector G038SS103124

The Mueller G038SS103124 is a 24 inch stainless steel flexible gas connector with 3/8 inch internal diameter, supplied for smaller appliance connections.

The 3/8 inch size suits appliances with modest gas input, and matching connector size to the appliance rather than to the available fitting is the point to observe.

Smaller connectors have correspondingly lower flow capacity, and the same capacity considerations apply as on larger sizes: internal diameter and length together determine the input the connector will support, and manufacturers publish tables giving those figures for natural gas and propane.

Fitting a 3/8 inch connector to an appliance requiring the flow of a 1/2 inch connector produces an appliance that cannot reach its rated input. The symptoms are poor performance and, in worse cases, incomplete combustion.

The reverse error, using an unnecessarily large connector, causes no performance problem but may require adaptors that add joints.

Stainless steel construction offers good corrosion resistance and mechanical durability, and is commonly specified where the connector may be exposed to a more demanding environment than a domestic kitchen.

Confirm the appliance input rating against the connector's published capacity for the length and gas type in use, along with connection sizes.

Never reuse a gas connector. Keep it accessible, do not conceal it in building construction, ensure a shutoff valve is provided in the same room, and leak test every joint with soap solution or an approved detector.
