The Mueller G012SS141548 is a 48 inch stainless steel flexible gas connector for appliance connection.

Length selection matters more than it appears. The connector must be long enough to allow the appliance to be moved for service without straining the connection, which is the reason it is fitted, but excess length has to go somewhere.

Excess is normally coiled or looped behind the appliance, and the loop must have a generous radius. A connector forced into a tight coil, kinked against a wall, or crushed when the appliance is pushed back into place is damaged, and the damage is concealed by the appliance for the remainder of its service life.

Kinking is the failure mode that matters. A sharp bend in the corrugated tube stresses the wall and can fatigue it, and a kink also restricts flow.

Selecting a length close to what the installation needs, rather than the longest available, avoids the problem. Where the run is longer than a connector should span, the rigid piping should be extended closer to the appliance rather than a long connector used to bridge the distance.

Connectors must not pass through walls, floors, ceilings, or partitions, and must not be concealed.

Confirm length, connection sizes, and capacity rating against the appliance. Fit a new connector rather than reusing one, provide an accessible shutoff valve, and leak test all joints.
