The Mueller G012YE101048 is a 48 inch coated flexible gas connector with 1/2 inch internal diameter for appliance connection.

Installation of a gas connector involves a few points of technique that determine whether the joints seal.

The connector's end fittings are flare type, sealing metal to metal on the flare cone. Thread sealant must not be applied to that sealing surface. Sealant belongs on tapered pipe threads where the connector's adaptor fittings screw into the appliance or the supply piping, and it must be a type approved for fuel gas.

Adaptors supplied with the connector should be used rather than substituted, since they are matched to the flare seat.

Tightening should be firm and consistent. Flare connections do not require excessive force, and overtightening can crack the flare or distort the seat, producing a leak that further tightening makes worse.

The connector must be routed so it is not strained, kinked, twisted, or in contact with sharp edges, and so it will not be crushed when the appliance is pushed back into position.

An accessible manual shutoff valve is required, located in the same room as the appliance.

Every joint must be leak tested with soap solution or an approved electronic detector, never with a flame.
