Moldex MOX6870 Earplug Meteors Disposable Uncorded One Size Contoured 33 dB

The Moldex MOX6870 is a Meteors disposable earplug, one size, contoured, uncorded, bright green, soft slow recovery foam, 33 dB noise reduction rating, PVC free, ANSI S3.19-1974, 200 pair per box.

Slow recovery foam is the specification and it is a genuine solution to the way foam plugs fail in practice.

A foam plug has to be rolled down thin, inserted, and held while it expands. The trouble is speed: a fast-recovery foam starts expanding the moment the fingers let go, which means it is expanding while it is still going in. The result is a plug that expands in the outer ear rather than the canal, sits half-in, and delivers a fraction of its rating — while the wearer, who felt it seat, believes they are protected.

Slow recovery foam gives the wearer time. It stays compressed long enough to be inserted properly and then expands into the canal where it belongs. That is the difference between a 33 dB rating on a box and 33 dB in an ear.

The contoured shape follows the same intent — a form shaped to enter the canal rather than a plain cylinder.

The rating carries the usual caveat: laboratory NRR figures overstate real-world performance, and regulators generally expect derating.

Bright green makes compliance visible across a workspace.

Applications include manufacturing, construction, and high-noise work.
