Moldex MOX6450 Earplug Jetz Reusable Uncorded One Size Flanged Green 27 dB

The Moldex MOX6450 is a Jetz reusable earplug, one size, flanged, uncorded, green, polyurethane, 27 dB noise reduction rating, PVC free, ANSI S3.19-1974, 50 pair per box.

Reading this against the Alphas plug alongside it: same 27 dB rating, same flanged reusable polyurethane construction, different shape and colour. That is not redundancy — it is the most important thing about hearing protection.

Ear canals differ. They differ in diameter, in shape, and between a person's own two ears. A plug that seals perfectly in one canal sits loose in another, and a loose plug provides a fraction of its rating regardless of what the box says. There is no universal fit, and the single most effective thing a hearing conservation programme can do is offer several styles so people can find one that seals in their ears.

That is why a range exists, and why stocking one plug for a whole workforce guarantees that some of them are unprotected.

The 27 dB rating carries the caveat that belongs on every hearing protector: laboratory ratings overstate real-world performance, and regulators generally expect derating for actual use.

Flanged plugs go in the same way every time — no rolling, no technique to get wrong — and they wash and reuse.

Applications include manufacturing, construction, and intermittent noise exposure.
