Product Highlights
Description
The Mainstream Engineering QT2510 Qwikinjector is a tool for introducing additives into refrigeration systems.
Injecting anything into a sealed refrigerant circuit requires care, and the tool's function is to do it without admitting air and moisture.
The connection is made to a service port, the additive is loaded into the injector, and system pressure or a manual mechanism drives it into the circuit. Purging the injector and the connection before opening to the system prevents air being carried in with the additive.
Moisture control matters as much as air. POE lubricants absorb atmospheric moisture rapidly, and an additive that has been exposed to air, or a connection that admits it, introduces moisture that will form acid.
Quantity control is the other requirement. Additives are dosed against system capacity, and overdosing is not a conservative error. Excess additive circulates, may accumulate at the metering device or drier, and can affect oil properties.
The wider consideration is whether the additive should be used at all. Many equipment manufacturers advise against additives and some void warranty coverage, and a system that has received one should be labelled so that the next technician and any reclaimer know what is in it.
Confirm the additive is compatible with the refrigerant, lubricant, and equipment, check warranty implications, purge the connection thoroughly, and dose to the specified quantity.
