The DiversiTech JS8-G is a one gallon container of Progreen coil cleaner concentrate.

Coil cleaner chemistry falls broadly into acidic, alkaline, and neutral or environmentally formulated categories, and each has a place.

Acidic cleaners dissolve mineral scale, oxidation, and the deposits that build on outdoor condenser coils. They are effective and aggressive, and aggressive is the operative word: they can attack aluminium fins if left too long or used at excessive concentration, and they present a real handling hazard.

Alkaline cleaners break down organic and greasy soiling, which is the typical evaporator condition.

Neutral and lower hazard formulations trade some cleaning power for reduced handling risk and reduced potential for coil damage. They suit indoor work, occupied buildings, and situations where a technician would rather not spray a strong acid into an air handler that discharges into the space.

Coil damage from aggressive cleaning is a real and underappreciated problem. Fins that have been etched and thinned by repeated acid cleaning corrode faster afterward, and the coil's life is shortened by the maintenance intended to preserve it.

Following the dilution ratio rather than mixing by eye is the main control, along with observing the dwell time and rinsing thoroughly.

Confirm compatibility with the coil materials, follow the manufacturer's dilution and dwell instructions, wear appropriate protection, and rinse completely.
