The Honeywell Howard Leight SPASDT-30 is a SmartFit earplug, multi-use, in a poly bag, corded and metal detectable, NRR 25, one size, 100 per box.

Metal detectable is the specification and it is the whole reason this SKU exists separately.

Food, beverage, and pharmaceutical plants run everything they make through metal detectors before it ships. That detection net is the last defence against foreign body contamination, and it is only as good as the things it can see. An ordinary earplug — foam or moulded polymer, on a plastic cord — is completely invisible to it.

Which matters because earplugs fall out. Every person in a noisy plant is wearing a pair of small soft objects that are held in by friction, over lines carrying product.

A detectable plug carries a metal element so the plant's existing detector catches it. No new system, no new procedure — the control that is already there does the work.

Note the NRR 25, which is the lowest in this range. SmartFit is a moulded reusable rather than a foam plug, and moulded plugs do not reach foam's laboratory numbers. That comparison is less damning than it looks: foam's 33 assumes perfect fitting, and a moulded plug fits the same way every time with no rolling technique to get wrong.

OSHA's derating — subtract 7, halve — puts 25 near 9 dB assumed.
