Honeywell Howard Leight SPALL-30 Sperian Howard Leight Laser Lite Ear Plug

The Honeywell Howard Leight SPALL-30 is a Laser Lite earplug, single use, individual polybag, NRR 32, corded, small, 100 per box.

Reading this against the uncorded Laser Lite in the same range: same plug, same NRR 32, same small size, with a cord joining the pair.

The cord decision is environmental rather than preferential, and it goes both ways firmly.

For work that moves in and out of noise, the cord is right. Plugs come out repeatedly, and an uncorded plug that comes out goes in a pocket — where it collects dust, swarf, and whatever else is in there, and then goes back in an ear carrying it. Outer ear infections in industrial workforces trace directly to that habit. A cord keeps the pair hanging clean around the neck, which is also where they are when needed.

For work around rotating machinery, the cord is wrong. A dangling cord near a lathe, a drill, or a conveyor is a snag hazard, and being pulled into a machine by an earplug cord is not a hypothetical.

So a facility with both conditions stocks both, and the decision is made by the equipment.

NRR 32 is a laboratory figure. OSHA's method — subtract 7, halve — puts real-world protection near 12.5 dB.

Small suits narrower canals. Sizing is what makes a plug seal.
