The Honeywell Howard Leight SPAFUS30S-HP is a Fusion optical cord earplug, multi-use with braid and HearPack case, NRR 27, corded and reusable, small, 100 per box.

Small is the specification and earplug sizing is worth explaining, because most plugs do not have it and this one does.

Foam plugs are one-size. They work by expanding to fill whatever canal they are in, which accommodates a range — imperfectly, but it accommodates. A moulded reusable plug does not expand. It is a fixed shape, and it either matches the canal or it does not.

That means sizing is essential rather than optional on this type. A moulded plug too large will not seat and sits in the outer ear delivering a fraction of its rating; too small and it does not seal at all. In both cases the wearer feels the plug and believes they are protected.

So a facility issuing Fusion plugs has to issue both sizes, and it has to let people find out which they need. Ear canals differ enormously — between people, and between a person's own two ears.

The counterpart advantage: a moulded plug goes in the same way every time. There is no rolling technique to get wrong, and dirty hands never touch the part that enters the ear.
