The Honeywell Howard Leight SPAFUS30-HP is a Fusion optical cord earplug, a multi-use plug with braid and HearPack case, NRR 27, corded and reusable, regular size, 100 per box.

The HearPack case is the specification and it addresses the thing that ruins reusable earplugs.

A reusable plug is only economical if it survives between uses, and the enemy is the pocket. A plug that comes out and goes in a pocket picks up dust, swarf, tobacco, and whatever else is in there, and it goes back into an ear carrying all of it. It also gets crushed, torn, and lost.

A small hard case solves it, and it costs almost nothing. The plug goes in the case, the case goes in the pocket, and the plug that comes out tomorrow is the plug that went in today.

That is what makes reusable plugs work in practice rather than in theory. Without a case, a reusable plug is a disposable plug that costs more.

The Fusion is a pod-style reusable — a moulded plug on a stem, pushed in rather than rolled. That removes the technique problem entirely: a foam plug rolled badly protects far less than its rating, and a moulded plug goes in the same way every time.

At NRR 27 the rating is honest for the type. OSHA's derating method — subtract 7, halve — puts real-world protection near 10 dB.
