Honeywell Howard Leight SPADPAS-30R Howard Leight Earplugs by Sperian Red 27

The Honeywell Howard Leight SPADPAS-30R is an earplug with a red polycord, polybagged, NRR 27, 100 pair per box and 10 boxes per case, 1,000 pair per case.

The individual polybag is the specification worth pulling out, and it is a hygiene decision rather than packaging.

An earplug goes into an ear canal. That canal is warm, moist, and enclosed — a good environment for anything introduced into it. Which means the plug's condition before insertion matters, and a plug that has been sitting loose in an open box on a plant floor, handled by every hand that reached in, is not clean.

Outer ear infections in industrial workforces trace directly to that. A polybagged plug is the same plug in a sealed wrapper, opened by the person about to wear it.

The trade is waste and cost. A thousand pair generates a thousand wrappers, and the packaging is a real fraction of the price.

So the choice is the environment: polybagged where hands are dirty and hygiene matters, dispensers where they are not.

The NRR 27 figure needs its usual caveat, and here is the specific version: OSHA's method for A-weighted noise exposure is to subtract 7 from the NRR and halve the result. That turns 27 dB on the box into roughly 10 dB of assumed real-world protection.

At 1,000 pair this is facility supply.
