DiversiTech UV Air Purifier UV System (18-32V)

The DiversiTech TUV-BTER2 is a germicidal UV air purification system operating on 18 to 32 volts, mounted in the air handler or duct to treat the coil surface and the passing airstream.

Ultraviolet treatment in HVAC equipment serves two related purposes. Coil irradiation directs UV-C energy at the evaporator coil and drain pan surfaces, the wet, dark, continuously cool locations where biological growth establishes readily. That growth insulates the coil, restricts airflow between fins, contributes to drain pan fouling and blockages, and is a recognised source of odour. Continuous irradiation keeps those surfaces clear, which preserves heat transfer and airflow over the equipment's life. Air treatment addresses microorganisms carried in the airstream as it passes the lamp.

The 18 to 32 volt operating range is a practical detail: it allows the system to be powered from the equipment's existing 24 volt control transformer rather than requiring a separate line voltage supply and receptacle, which simplifies installation considerably in a crowded air handler cabinet.

UV lamp output declines steadily well before the lamp fails to illuminate, so a visibly lit lamp is not evidence of effective output. Replace on the manufacturer's schedule.

Applications include residential and light commercial air handlers, furnaces, and fan coil units. Never look directly at an energised UV-C lamp, and de-energise before servicing the equipment.
