DiversiTech Latching Switch Elbow BG-301

The DiversiTech BG-301 latching condensate safety switch is designed for installation in the drain line elbow, providing overflow protection where a pan-mounted switch is impractical or where in-line detection gives earlier warning of a developing blockage.

Mounting in the drain line means the switch senses water backing up in the piping itself, typically before condensate has risen far enough in the pan to reach a float. Earlier detection reduces the chance of any water escaping the pan at all, which is valuable on units installed above finished ceilings, in attics over living space, or in commercial tenant spaces where water damage carries high remediation and liability costs.

Latching operation requires a manual reset after a trip. The switch will not restore the control circuit on its own when water recedes, so the system stays locked out until a technician clears the obstruction and resets the device. This forces the root cause to be addressed rather than allowing the equipment to nuisance-cycle against a partially blocked drain.

The switch wires in series with the 24V control circuit, opening the thermostat call and shutting down cooling when triggered. Low voltage termination keeps installation simple at the air handler control board or contactor circuit.

Applications include residential and light commercial air handlers, fan coils, ductless indoor units with gravity drains, and refrigeration equipment with condensate lines routed through occupied space. Install in accordance with manufacturer orientation requirements, verify the drain line slope, and confirm proper operation by simulating a blockage before leaving the job.
