DiversiTech Inline Latch Switch BG-402

The DiversiTech BG-402 is an inline latching condensate safety switch supplied with the fittings needed for drain line installation. It detects water backing up in the condensate line and opens the equipment control circuit before an overflow can occur, protecting the structure below the air handler or fan coil.

Inline placement gives the switch an early view of drain problems. Because condensate backs up in the piping before it accumulates to the overflow point in the pan, the switch reacts sooner than a pan float and shuts the system down while the blockage is still contained within the drain system. On units mounted in attics, above suspended ceilings, or in closets adjacent to finished space, that margin is the difference between a service call and a water damage claim.

The latching mechanism holds the circuit open after a trip and requires manual reset. This prevents the equipment from short-cycling against an intermittent blockage and ensures the drain is properly cleared, the trap serviced, and the coil inspected before cooling operation resumes.

Wiring is to the 24V control circuit in series with the thermostat call for cooling, so the switch interrupts the demand signal rather than switching line voltage. Included fittings simplify plumbing the device into standard PVC condensate lines without additional adapters.

Common installations include residential split system air handlers, horizontal attic units, commercial fan coils, ductless mini-split drains, and refrigeration condensate lines. Follow the specified orientation and flow direction, maintain proper drain slope, and test the trip and reset function at commissioning.
