Copeland Compressor A/C Reci CRNQ-050E-TF5-970

The Copeland CRNQ-050E-TF5-970 is a hermetic reciprocating air conditioning compressor supplied with polyol ester lubricant, configured for three phase operation on a nominal 200 to 230 volt supply.

Evacuation and charging determine whether a compressor replacement lasts, and on POE charged equipment the standard for evacuation is higher than it was on mineral oil systems.

The objective is to remove air and moisture. Air is a non condensable gas that occupies condenser volume it should not, raising head pressure and discharge temperature and reducing capacity. Moisture forms acids with POE lubricant and can freeze at the metering device.

Reaching a deep vacuum requires attention to the whole path. Removing valve cores eliminates the largest restriction. Using large diameter, short hoses rather than standard service hoses reduces flow resistance substantially. Connecting to both the high and low sides evacuates the system rather than one part of it. And a pump with clean oil is essential, since pump oil absorbs moisture and a saturated pump cannot pull a deep vacuum regardless of its rating.

Verification matters more than the number reached. Isolating the pump and observing whether the vacuum holds distinguishes a dry, tight system from one where the pump is outrunning a leak or ongoing moisture boil off.

Charge by weight where the manufacturer specifies it, then verify by superheat or subcooling. Confirm all model fields before ordering.
