Uniweld Rosebud Tip MTR

The Uniweld MTR is a rosebud heating tip for applying heat over a large area.

A rosebud tip has multiple flame ports arranged around a head, producing a broad, high volume flame rather than a single concentrated one.

The purpose is heating rather than joining. Applications include bringing large components up to temperature, heating seized assemblies for disassembly, preheating heavy sections before welding, and thawing frozen pipework.

The heat output is substantial, and a rosebud consumes gas at a much higher rate than a standard tip. On acetylene this raises the withdrawal rate concern directly, since a rosebud on a small cylinder can easily exceed the permissible rate and draw acetone out with the gas. Cylinder size must suit the tip.

Applying heat to seized assemblies is the common HVAC use, where a corroded fastener or a component locked onto a shaft releases once expanded.

The cautions are significant. Heat applied near refrigerant lines, sealed systems, electrical components, insulation, or combustible material causes damage or hazard, and a sealed system heated locally can build pressure. Painted and galvanised surfaces produce hazardous fumes when heated.

Ventilation, fire precautions, and a fire watch afterward all apply.

Confirm the tip suits the handle and gas supply, that the cylinder can support the withdrawal rate, and assess what is behind and around the area before applying heat.
