Southwire Building Wire 14GA White 100 22956784

The Southwire 22956784 is 14 gauge white building wire in a 100 foot length, supplied for branch circuit wiring in residential and commercial installations.

White insulation identifies a grounded conductor, commonly called the neutral. Electrical code reserves white and grey for this purpose specifically so that any technician can identify the grounded conductor without testing, which is a fundamental safety convention. Using white wire as an ungrounded conductor is prohibited except in defined circumstances where it must be permanently re-identified with tape or marking at every accessible point.

Fourteen gauge copper is rated for 15 amps in standard applications, appropriate for lighting circuits, general purpose receptacles, control power, and small equipment loads. The conductor must be protected at an overcurrent rating matched to its ampacity; 14 gauge belongs on a 15 amp circuit.

The 100 foot length is a practical service quantity, sized for individual circuit runs and repair work without requiring storage of a full spool in a service vehicle.

Applications include lighting and receptacle circuits, HVAC equipment and control wiring, junction box and panel work, disconnect wiring, and general electrical installation and repair.

Verify that insulation type and temperature rating suit the installation environment and the equipment terminations involved, as termination temperature limits frequently govern the allowable ampacity rather than the conductor insulation itself. Apply the required adjustment factors for conduit fill and ambient temperature, maintain correct colour identification throughout the installation, and confirm compliance with applicable electrical code before energizing.
