Southwire Building Wire 12GA White 100 22965884

The Southwire 22965884 is 12 gauge white building wire supplied in a 100 foot length for branch circuit wiring in commercial and residential installations.

White insulation identifies the grounded conductor, commonly called the neutral. Electrical code reserves white and grey specifically for this function so that the grounded conductor can be recognized on sight by anyone working on the circuit, without testing. This is a core safety convention. Using white conductor as an ungrounded conductor is permitted only in limited defined situations and requires permanent re-identification with coloured tape or marking at every accessible point.

Twelve gauge copper is rated for 20 amps in standard applications, appropriate for general purpose and appliance receptacle circuits, small equipment feeds, and any branch circuit protected at 20 amps. It is also specified for longer 15 amp runs where voltage drop is a concern, particularly on motor loads where reduced terminal voltage raises current draw and operating temperature.

The 100 foot length suits individual circuit runs and service repairs, a practical quantity for service vehicle stock.

Applications include receptacle and appliance circuits, HVAC equipment and control wiring, junction box and panelboard work, disconnect wiring, and general installation and repair.

Verify that insulation type and temperature rating are appropriate to the installation environment and to the equipment terminations, since termination temperature ratings frequently govern allowable ampacity. Apply adjustment factors for conduit fill and ambient temperature, maintain correct colour identification throughout, and confirm compliance with applicable electrical code.
