The Simple Green SGN13421 is Pro HD heavy duty cleaner, biodegradable, 1 gal bottle, water base, VOC content 2 percent, non-corrosive, not Green Seal certified, carries a Prop 65 listing, not a DOT hazardous substance.

Non-corrosive is the specification and it is the claim that separates this from most heavy duty degreasers on a shelf.

The conventional way to make a degreaser work harder is to raise the pH. Caustic cleaners at pH 13 and above cut grease brilliantly because they saponify it — they chemically convert the fat into soap. They also attack aluminium, etch paint, dull anodising, and burn skin, and a splash in an eye is a genuine emergency rather than an irritation.

That is the trade most heavy duty cleaners make and rarely state.

A non-corrosive heavy duty formula is doing the same job by a different route. It costs more to formulate and it is why an operation can hand it to a technician without a face shield and a written procedure.

Pro HD is the heavy end of the Simple Green range, for engine bays, shop floors, equipment, and the soil that the general formula gives up on.

Note the Prop 65 listing, which the Original formula does not carry. Non-corrosive is not the same as inert, and the buyer should see the disclosure rather than infer safety from the name.

Water base means no solvent storage.
