CRC CRC02150 Cleaner 16 oz Colorless Aerosol Chlorinated

The CRC02150 is a chlorinated-base cleaner in a 16 oz aerosol with a 16 oz net fill, supplied 1 each with 12 per case. It is a colorless liquid with a fast evaporation rate, a specific gravity of 1.62, and a VOC content of 32.9.

The chlorinated base is the defining specification, and it explains both why this product exists and where it must not go. Chlorinated solvents are not flammable, which is why they became the standard for cleaning parts that cannot be taken away from ignition sources or de-energised. They also carry more solvent strength than most hydrocarbon cleaners, cutting heavy grease and oil that a milder product only smears. The specific gravity of 1.62 reflects that chemistry — the fluid is substantially heavier than water.

One warning belongs on every chlorinated solvent in a welding facility, and it is not a formality. Chlorinated solvent vapour exposed to ultraviolet radiation or high heat — a welding arc, a cutting torch, a hot surface — can decompose into phosgene, a highly toxic gas. Parts cleaned with a chlorinated product must be fully dry and the vapour fully cleared before any hot work begins, and these cleaners must never be used in or near an arc.

The low 32.9 VOC content is what keeps this product usable in jurisdictions where high-VOC cleaners are restricted.
