CRC CRC03027 Penetrating Solvent 20 oz Orange Aerosol

The CRC03027 is a penetrating solvent in a 20 oz aerosol with an 11.5 oz net fill, supplied 1 each with 12 per case. It is an orange liquid classified extremely flammable, with a flash point of 147 °F.

Penetrating solvents earn their place in a toolbox by reaching where nothing else can. A seized fastener has no visible gap, but it has a capillary path through the corrosion binding the threads. A penetrant is formulated with the low viscosity and low surface tension to wick along that path, reach the rust that is actually holding the joint, and break the bond from the inside. A general-purpose lubricant sprayed on the outside of the same fastener accomplishes nothing.

Technique matters more with this product class than with almost anything else in a maintenance cabinet. Penetrants work on time, not on pressure — the correct method is to apply, allow the solvent to travel, reapply, and only then put a wrench on the fastener. Heat and impact help; impatience does not.

The extremely flammable classification demands the corresponding handling. Ignition sources must be eliminated from the area, and the product must not be used on hot surfaces or near hot work.

The 20 oz can with 11.5 oz net fill provides working volume for repeated application, which is how penetrants are actually consumed.
