At 5 gallons this is the size where the dilution discipline starts to matter, because this is a concentrate being decanted rather than a bottle being used.

Simple Green is diluted, and the ratio follows the soil — light cleaning wants a lot of water and heavy degreasing wants a little. The failure mode is not the strong mix; it is that a facility decanting from a pail into trigger bottles ends up with a dozen bottles of unknown strength, none of them labelled, all of them mixed by whoever was there. Some are wasteful and some do nothing, and the product gets blamed.

A dilution station, or at minimum a marked bottle and a written ratio, is what makes bulk purchasing actually cheaper.

The other thing bulk demands is labelling. A decanted chemical in an unlabelled container is a hazard communication failure regardless of how benign the chemical is.

The pH of 8.5 to 9.2 is mildly alkaline, which is what makes it broadly surface-safe where a pH 13 degreaser is not.
