Showa SHWS-TEX350S-07 Cut Resistant Glove Small 10.5 Nitrile A4

The Showa SHWS-TEX350S-07 is a cut resistant glove, small, cut level A4, nitrile, 10 gauge, 10.5 inches long.

Note two things in the data. The listed material — nitrile — is the coating, not the shell that provides the cut resistance. And the length here is 10.5 inches where the medium, large, and X-Large are 11: that is consistent with proportional sizing rather than an error, but worth confirming.

Small is the size worth arguing for, and on a cut glove the argument is stronger than usual.

An oversized cut glove is actively dangerous. The empty material at the fingertips is what gets caught, drawn in, and cut — and the wearer, holding a blade or a sheet edge, is working with a glove that no longer follows their hand. Cut protection assumes the material is where the hazard meets the hand, and a loose glove puts it somewhere else.

It also destroys the feel that makes a glove wearable. A worker who cannot feel the work grips harder, tires, and eventually takes the glove off — and a cut glove in a pocket has an ANSI rating of nothing.

A facility that stocks medium through XL is telling part of its workforce to manage. A4 protection only exists in a glove that fits.

The 10 gauge knit is coarse: more material, more protection, less dexterity.

Applications include glass, sheet metal, and fabrication.
