MCR Safety MCR926L Mechanics Gloves Synthetic Black/Lime Premium Large Neoprene

The MCR Safety MCR926L is a pair of mechanics gloves, synthetic, large, black and lime, adjustable closure, Thermosock lining, black polymer, neoprene cuff, premium grade.

The Thermosock lining is the specification and it identifies this as a cold-weather glove — which changes the whole calculation of what a mechanic's glove is for.

An unlined mechanic's glove maximises dexterity. A lined one trades some of that for warmth, and the trade is worth making for one reason: cold hands are clumsy hands. Below a certain temperature, tactile sensitivity and grip strength drop sharply, and a bare or thinly gloved hand in the cold is less capable than an insulated one despite the bulk. Anyone who has dropped a socket into an engine bay in January understands.

The neoprene cuff is the other cold-weather feature. Neoprene stretches and seals, which keeps the wrist gap closed — and the wrist gap is where cold air and snow get in.

The black and lime colour scheme provides visibility, which pairs with outdoor cold-weather work.

Synthetic construction rather than leather gives consistent properties, machine washability, and no break-in period. Leather is more abrasion resistant and moulds to the hand over time; synthetic is the same on day one and day fifty.

Applications include outdoor mechanical work, cold storage, winter maintenance, and utilities.
