Product Highlights
Description
The S-Line SLI20-EE2-9802X20 is a 2 inch x 20 ft eye-to-eye sling, shrink-wrapped, bulk, 2 ply, 2 inch wide, 9,800 lb webbing. Rated choker 5,000 lbs, vertical 6,400 lbs, basket 12,800 lbs.
Synthetic web slings are cut by edges, and that is the failure mode that ends them.
A web sling is a woven textile. It is enormously strong in tension and it has essentially no resistance to a knife edge — and every steel plate, every machined casting, every structural section has corners that function as knife edges under load. A sling pulled tight around a square corner concentrates its entire tension on a few threads at that corner, and those threads part. Then the next few. The sling does not stretch and warn; it unzips.
Edge protection is not optional and it is not a nicety. Sleeves, corner protectors, or a wear pad go between the sling and any corner, every time.
The tags matter too. A sling's tag is its rating and its identity, and OSHA requires slings to be removed from service when the tag is missing or illegible. That is not bureaucracy — an unmarked sling is a sling of unknown capacity and unknown history.
At 20 ft this reaches around large loads and buys sling angle.
Inspect before every lift: cuts, abrasion, heat damage, chemical burn, distorted fittings.
