The S-Line SLI20-EE2-9802X10 is a 2 inch x 10 ft eye-to-eye sling, shrink-wrapped, bulk, 2 ply, 2 inch wide, 9,800 lb webbing. Rated choker 5,000 lbs, vertical 6,400 lbs, basket 12,800 lbs.

Three ratings for one sling is the most important thing here, and confusing them is how people get killed.

The rating depends entirely on how the sling is rigged. Vertical is the baseline: the sling hangs straight, one eye on the hook, one on the load, and the whole capacity is 6,400 lbs. A choker hitch wraps the sling through its own eye and cinches on the load — and that bend and the squeeze reduce capacity, which is why choker is 5,000 lbs rather than 6,400. A basket hitch cradles the load with both eyes on the hook, so two legs share it, and capacity doubles to 12,800 lbs.

Same sling. Three numbers. Nearly double from bottom to top.

Which means the rigger has to know which hitch they are using before they read a number off the tag. A sling chosen on its basket rating and then used as a choker is loaded to well over twice its capacity.

Note the 9,800 lb figure is the webbing, not the sling.
