JET JET287401 Lever Hoist 1-1/2 Ton With 10 ft Lift Jlp-A Alloy Steel Hooks

The JET JET287401 is a lever hoist, 1-1/2 ton with a 10 ft lift, JLP-A series, with alloy steel hooks. It replaces the discontinued item 187611.

The alloy steel hooks are the specification worth reading. Hooks are the component that connects the hoist to the load and to the anchor, and they are the part that fails visibly when rigging goes wrong. Alloy steel gives the strength for the rating in a hook that is still manageable in size.

More importantly, alloy hooks are designed to deform before they break. That is deliberate: a hook that stretches and opens gives a visible warning that it has been overloaded, where a brittle hook simply lets go. This is why hook inspection — checking throat opening against the original dimension — is part of every rigging inspection regime. A hook whose throat has opened is condemned, not adjusted.

A lever hoist is operated by a hand lever rather than a hand chain, which is what lets it work in any orientation — pulling horizontally, tensioning at an angle, or lifting vertically. That is why they are standard rigging equipment rather than only lifting equipment.

At 1-1/2 ton with a 10 ft lift this is a mid-range unit.

Note the replacement information: this supersedes discontinued item 187611.

Inspect the hoist, chain, and hooks before every use.
