Description
The Robertshaw A22-1112 is a refrigeration cold control for temperature regulation in commercial refrigeration equipment.
Bulb placement in a refrigeration cabinet determines what the control actually regulates, and different placements give different behaviour.
A bulb clamped to the evaporator senses coil temperature, which responds quickly and is used where the control must respond to the refrigeration circuit's condition, including in some defrost arrangements.
A bulb positioned in the return airstream senses air temperature leaving the cabinet, which reflects the average condition of the space.
A bulb placed in the product zone, or in a simulated product mass, responds slowly and reflects what the stored product is actually experiencing rather than what the air is doing. This gives the most stable control of product temperature and the least sensitivity to door openings.
The original manufacturer's placement reflects a deliberate choice, and replicating it when replacing a control is important. A bulb relocated to a different position will produce different cycling behaviour and different product temperatures even with identical settings.
Applications include commercial refrigeration, coolers, freezers, merchandisers, and food service refrigeration.
