Ripstop is the specification that distinguishes this from the Value jacket in the same range, and it is a genuine construction rather than a fabric name. Ripstop weaves a grid of heavier reinforcing threads through the base fabric at regular intervals. When a tear starts — and it starts at a snag, which happens constantly on a site full of scaffold, rebar, and sheet edges — it propagates until it reaches a reinforcing thread and stops there. The garment gets a hole instead of a tear across the back.

That matters most on a hi-vis jacket, because a torn hi-vis garment stops being compliant. Class 3 requires a defined area of background material, and a tear removes it.

Denier is the yarn weight: 300 denier is a substantial fabric.

Taped seams seal the needle holes that make an untaped "waterproof" garment leak at the shoulders.
