PVC over polyester is the construction and the polyester is the part that matters. This is not a PVC garment; it is a polyester fabric carrying a PVC coating, and the two components do different jobs.

The PVC is the waterproofing. It is a continuous coating with no pores, so water cannot pass — which is also why it does not breathe at all, and why any PVC suit is a compromise between rain outside and sweat inside.

The polyester scrim is the strength. Unsupported PVC film tears from any snag or puncture and keeps tearing, which is why cheap unsupported rainwear fails in a day on a jobsite full of edges and corners. A woven scrim stops a tear from propagating. The garment can be punctured without being destroyed.

That is the difference between a work rain suit and a disposable poncho.

At 0.35 mm this is a mid-weight coating — general-purpose durability rather than heavy industrial.
