PIP PIN09-K1250/L G-Tek Size Large

The PIP PIN09-K1250/L is a G-TEK Kevlar and Lycra seamless knit liner with grey polyurethane coating, large, 25 dozen per case.

The Kevlar and Lycra blend is the specification and the two fibres are doing opposite jobs.

Kevlar is an aramid — genuinely cut resistant, and it does not melt. What it is not is stretchy. A pure Kevlar knit is stiff, and a stiff glove is a glove the wearer fights all day and eventually takes off.

Lycra supplies the stretch. Blended in, it lets the knit conform to the hand so the glove moves rather than resisting, without giving up the Kevlar's cut performance.

Seamless knit is worth its own note. A seamed glove has a ridge inside it, and that ridge sits against the hand for eight hours. Seamless knits are made on a machine as a continuous tube — no seams, no ridges, nothing to rub.

The polyurethane coating provides grip. PU is thin, flexible, and it grips dry and lightly oiled surfaces well, which makes it the standard for assembly and handling. It is poor in heavy oil, where a foam nitrile coating is the better choice.
